Ernest Health, a nationally recognized healthcare provider, has announced the opening of Lexington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital.
The 36-bed medical rehabilitation hospital provides specialized rehabilitative care to patients who are recovering from disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses, or chronic medical conditions. This includes strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, multiple traumas, various neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, amputations, and other medically complex conditions.
Lexington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is Ernest Health’s second location in the Midlands area, with another hospital located in Elgin, S.C.
“We’re proud to offer Ernest Health’s nationally recognized level of care as we continue to meet the area’s need for these services” says Roxanna Schmidt, CEO of Lexington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. “We’re committed to providing care that will allow patients to maximize their function, improve their overall health and quality of life, and regain their independence after life-changing illnesses or injuries.”
The hospital’s services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing; respiratory therapy; dietary services; case management; pharmacy services; social work services; pain management; and more. A physician-led interdisciplinary healthcare team works with patients and family members to create individualized treatment plans to maximize recoveries. Patients are offered the latest in rehabilitative technology and equipment to enhance treatment options.
One example of medical technology offered at the hospital is Rise&Walk® from the Nashville- based company Healing Innovations, Inc. The innovative technology is designed for patients with neurological and mobility impairments. It supports gait training by synchronizing upper and lower extremity movements, providing a versatile neurorehabilitation station that combines robotic-assisted gait training, seated activities, and a balance support zone. The technology is developed in alignment with the latest research to promote neuroplasticity, a key factor in functional recovery.
“The technology allows us to enhance patient care while providing objective data for tracking patient progress, safeguarding staff from potential injuries, and improving overall therapy efficiency,” Schmidt says.
Lexington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital features all private patient rooms, each with private baths; bariatric suites with overhead lifts; spacious therapy gym and outdoor therapy courtyard; and a fully-equipped Activities of Daily Living Suite that emulates home conditions for patients.
